Hi, my name is Paddy. I am a strength coach, runner, climber and mountaineer.
Here are some stories of the people I’ve worked with followed by my own after.
Testimonials
Paddy’s programmes are the best way I’ve found to complement my climbing schedule with strength and conditioning work. Paddy’s experience and knowledge of climbing is excellent, and I’ve used the twelve week plan to build capacity and maintain strength for specific trips, where I’ve hit my bouldering goals.

When I decided to apply for the fire service, I knew Paddy was the only person I’d trust to help me prepare physically. His sessions are tailored, effective and enjoyable. He keeps me focused and ensures I use the correct technique to avoid injury.

Getting a physical training plan from Paddy that took my start state, understood what time and equipment I had, and factored all that in has helped me progress my fitness and know what to do to get results. It’s why I keep coming back for more!

I was really keen to do more mountain climbing but had hit a limit in my performance. It became apparent straight away that we shared the same goals – doing more in the outdoors and achieving awesome things.
We started on a strength programme and I have been following his practical and incremental approach to performance improvement over the last few years.
It’s been life-changing working with Paddy. He’s been inspirational, fun and fully invested in helping me succeed.
I feel years younger when I am out in the hills and am looking forward to amazing new challenges ahead. I’d recommend him unreservedly.

I used Paddy’s programming and coaching for a number of years through my military career. Initially while training for the regular commissioning course at Sandhurst, I had a coaching session on compound lifts and a strength programme. Despite having a few years experience with compound lifts, I noticed significant jumps in my 1RMs and felt much stronger and efficient in my lifts. During the commissioning course I found being stronger very helpful when carrying the intense loads the course demands.
I have also followed a programme when training for an arduous course. Again I hit a new 1RM on my squat and felt much faster, particularly when carrying weight. I particularly noticed this while climbing Jacobs Ladder on the Pen y Fan carrying around 30Kg, feeling the power in my lower body as I overtook a number of people during the incline.
-Capt. C Armstrong
As an active and outdoorsey person I have always known that strength training would be a good thing to do, but I always managed to find excuses to avoid it – no time, not confident in a male-dominant space, bit boring, the list went on!
Strength training with Paddy has changed this! With his background and training, Paddy has a wealth of knowledge that he shares in a digestible and informative way throughout each session. He makes the importance of each movement clear. This helped me to build confidence and link the purpose of a strength practice to my fell running, climbing and yoga.
Paddy catered my training programme to suit my schedule, and fostered an upbeat, non-competitive, and empowering environment in the gym.

More about me

I started training others as a Physical Training Instructor for the Army Reserves. Organising and delivering weekly unit training and assessments.
Upon leaving the reserves, I worked delivering outdoor fitness classes for British Military Fitness. Here, in all conditions, I learned to adapt to a broad range of age and abilities with little to no equipment.

I began working with individual clients preparing for Marathons, Ironman Triathlons and competitive swimming. Since then I’ve focused more on mountain and adventure sports.
In my own time I’ve progressed from indoor bouldering to all forms of climbing. With a particular love of long mountain routes. In June 2022 I completed my Rock Climbing Instructors assessment. In November 2023 I added Summer Mountain Leader to my skills portfolio.

I’ve run since before the army, growing up in the foot hills of the Sibillini everything was uphill it seemed. I’ve found some flatter courses but not many since. I’ve run Yorkshire 3 peaks in 5:14, Unsupported Lakes Round (80k) in 34 hours and The Dales Trail series.
Other memorable/stupid events include BMF Thirty (Stretcher carry from Leeds to Manchester along the canal), Southern 50 (50 mile navigation exercise aged 17) and the Spartan race trifecta (3,8,13 miles) obstacle courses over a weekend.
